TARGET AUDIENCE
Educating all professionals, ancillary personnel (pharmacy technicians, nursing assistants, medication aides) and caregivers who deal with older adults to recognize falls risk factors, understand the medications that increase falls risk, and how to decrease those risks will help us decrease the number and severity of falls in our population. Identifying the risks, recognizing the problem, and alerting the appropriate professionals has been prevent falls, lessen medication burden, and decrease the negative outcomes associated with falls.
LEARNING OBJECTIVE
At the conclusion of this application-based activity, participants should be able to:
- Define the role of comprehensive falls risk assessment and intervention in their practice utilizing falls prevention toolkits from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Stopping Elderly Accidents, Deaths, and Injuries (STEADI) initiative and the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists–National Council on Aging.
- Identify common risk factors for falls in the senior population.
- Utilizing patient cases, develop individualized recommendations for fall prevention based on a medication review.

HOW TO EARN CREDIT
Post-Test: You will have 3attempts to achieve a 70% or higher on the post-test assessment.
CPE Credit: You must complete the post-test and evaluation within 365 days post purchase or by the expiration date, whichever occurs first to receive credit. ASCP reports CPE attainment to ACPE and NABP via the CPE Monitor system. The course should be posted within 24-48 hours of evaluation completion. It is the responsibility of the participant to provide their correct date of birth (MMDD format) and NABP e-Profile ID on their member or guest profile on the ASCP Website.
