ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION AND PURPOSE
Target audience will include clinicians from various disciplines such as medicine, nursing and pharmacy. The webinar will focus on topics most relevant to consultant pharmacist, geriatric pharmacists (including those seeking BCGP recertification credit), and other clinical pharmacists who are actively involved in the management of patients with multidrug resistant gram‑negative bacterial infections. The webinar (a continuation to the 2018 ASCP session on multidrug Gram‑positive bacteria) will focus on the pathogenicity, identification, and treatment of infections caused by E. coli, Enterobacter spp, P. aeruginosa, A. baumanni , and K. pneumoniae in older adults.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of this application-based activity, participants should be able to:
- Review of most common mechanisms of resistance utilized by Gram-negative organisms.
- Identify the most significant risk factors for infection with Gram-negative resistant organisms in healthcare settings.
- Highlight the prevalence, characteristics, and methods of resistance of the most detrimental Gram-negative resistant organisms.
- Formulate a plan for empiric and streamlined therapy when treating infections suspected/caused by resistant Gram-negative organisms.

The American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (ASCP) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.

HOW TO EARN CREDIT
Post-Test: You will have 3attempts to achieve a 70% or higher on the post-test assessment.
CPE Credit: You must complete the post-test and evaluation within 365 days post purchase or by the expiration date, whichever occurs first to receive credit. ASCP reports CPE attainment to ACPE and NABP via the CPE Monitor system. The course should be posted within 24-48 hours of evaluation completion. It is the responsibility of the participant to provide their correct date of birth (MMDD format) and NABP e-Profile ID on their member or guest profile on the ASCP Website.
