ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION AND PURPOSE
The treatment options for Alzheimer's disease are limited to four medications in two medications classes and nothing is approved for prevention. Caregivers, patients, and researchers are seeking options for prevention and treatment, but what is the evidence for modalities like light therapy, medical food, Ginkgo biloba, Vitamin E, and music therapy?
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of this application-based activity, participants should be able to:
- Classify the mechanism of actions for FDA approved medications for Alzheimer's Disease treatment.
- Compare FDA legal requirements of medical foods compared to prescription medications.
- Describe the research outcomes for light therapy for Alzheimer's Disease.
- Examine the evidence for music therapy for treatment of Alzheimer's disease.
- Examine the evidence for dietary supplements promoted for the prevention or treatment of Alzheimer's disease.

HOW TO EARN CREDIT
Post-Test: You will have 3attempts to achieve a 70% or higher on the post-test assessment.
CPE Credit: You must complete the post-test and evaluation within 365 days post purchase or by the expiration date, whichever occurs first to receive credit. ASCP reports CPE attainment to ACPE and NABP via the CPE Monitor system. The course should be posted within 24-48 hours of evaluation completion. It is the responsibility of the participant to provide their correct date of birth (MMDD format) and NABP e-Profile ID on their member or guest profile on the ASCP Website.
