Balancing Harm and Benefit: SGLT2 Inhibitors in Older Adults
This BCGP webinar will provide pharmacists with the opportunity to apply knowledge related to appropriate use of sodium glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors (SGLT2is) in older adults. This case-based presentation will focus on the risk and benefits of utilizing SGLT2 inhibitors and include strategies to reduce adverse effects. Attendees will leave this session with knowledge on how to develop patient specific treatment plans for older adults with type 2 diabetes taking into account comorbidities.

Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this application-based activity, participants should be able to:
- Evaluate the efficacy of SGLT2 inhibitor therapy in improving cardiovascular outcomes, kidney function, and diabetes management.
- Identify potential risks associated with using SGLT2 inhibitors in older adults and explore strategies to minimize these risks.
- Develop a patient specific treatment plan for prescribing SGLT2 inhibitors in older adults with multiple comorbidities.
