Become a Consultant Pharmacist: Consultant Pharmacist Certificate Program
Pharmacists are on the move and many are leaving more traditional roles for roles in Senior Care as consultant pharmacists. ASCP has launched a certificate program in Consulting Pharmacy. Participants will experience an overview of the basic tenets of consultant pharmacist practice in various community and institutional settings. Experts discussed the differences between long term post-acute care consulting and various community based consulting programs.

Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this application-based activity, participants should be able to:
- Integrate ASCP’s Core Competencies, explain the role of the consultant pharmacist in various senior care practice settings.
- Develop a business plan for the consultant pharmacist practice in one of the senior care practice settings.
- Produce a medication regimen review (MRR), using the main tenets of the patient care process: recognition or identification of the problem/need, assessment, diagnosis/cause identification, management/treatment, monitoring, and revising interventions, as warranted as well as documenting medication management steps.
- Argue strategies of medication management in different practice settings.
- Discriminate the federal regulations and guidance for consultant pharmacists in various practice care settings.
- Critique challenges within the role of the consultant pharmacist.
- Construct various resources available for consultant pharmacists.
Target Audience
Senior Care Pharmacists who provide expert advice on the use of medications to individuals and older adults and are committed to providing person-centered care, considering the complex interrelationships between disease states, nutrition, medications, and other variables.
