Target Audience:
This
presentation is targeting pharmacists who work in the long-term care setting,
or pharmacists who work with senior care patients and preventative wellness
programs. The learning activity is also for pharmacists certified to provide
immunizations.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this Application-Based activity, participants should
be able to:
- Describe the incidence, prevalence, morbidity and mortality of pneumococcal disease across the life span and on those in long-term care settings in particular.
- Identify Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS requirements for offering pneumococcal vaccine in the long-term care setting.
- Describe the process for pneumococcal immunization reimbursement under Medicare Part B.
- Describe the current Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommendations for the use of pneumococcal vaccines in adult populations.
- Identify effective mechanisms for implementing pneumococcal vaccination programs in the long-term care setting.

How to
Earn Credit:
BCGP Credit: Per the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS), all pharmacists
seeking BCGP Recertification have ONE attempt to achieve a 70% or higher on the
10-question post-test.
CPE Credit: You must complete the post-test and evaluation by August 15, 2020 at 11:59 pm ET to receive credit. ASCP reports CPE attainment to ACPE and NABP via the CPE Monitor system. The course should be posted within 24-48 hours of evaluation completion. It is the responsibility of the participant to provide their correct date of birth (MMDD format) and NABP e-Profile ID on their member or guest profile on the ASCP Website.
