Target Audience:
This
presentation is targeting pharmacists who manage and monitor patients receiving
antiarrhythmic drugs. Emphasis will be given to arrhythmias common to the
elderly population.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this Application-Based activity, participants should
be able to:
- Discuss the major mechanism of arrhythmia generation.
- Differentiate the role of antiarrhythmic drugs compared to electrical treatment for both atrial and ventricular arrhythmias.
- List the primary use and monitoring parameters for the Class I and III antiarrhythmic drugs.
- Formulate a treatment plan for a patient with atrial fibrillation.
- Analyze the medical record for a patient on amiodarone to optimize safety.

How to
Earn Credit:
BCGP Credit: Per the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS), all pharmacists
seeking BCGP Recertification have ONE attempt to achieve a 70% or higher on the
10-question post-test.
CPE Credit: You must complete the post-test and evaluation by July 1, 2020 at 11:59 pm ET to receive credit. ASCP reports CPE attainment to ACPE and NABP via the CPE Monitor system. The course should be posted within 24-48 hours of evaluation completion. It is the responsibility of the participant to provide their correct date of birth (MMDD format) and NABP e-Profile ID on their member or guest profile on the ASCP Website.
