Target Audience:
This
presentation is targeting pharmacists who manage and monitor patients receiving
antiarrhythmic drugs. Emphasis will be given to arrhythmias common to the
elderly population.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this application-based activity, participants should
be able to:
- Discuss the major mechanism of arrhythmia generation.
- Differentiate the role of antiarrhythmic drugs compared to electrical treatment for both atrial and ventricular arrhythmias.
- List the primary use and monitoring parameters for the Class I and III antiarrhythmic drugs.
- Formulate a treatment plan for a patient with atrial fibrillation.
- Analyze the medical record for a patient on amiodarone to optimize safety.

How to
Earn Credit:
Post-Test: You will have unlimited attempts to achieve a 70% or higher
on the post-test assessment.
CPE Credit: You must complete the post-test and evaluation within 365 days post purchase to receive credit. ASCP reports CPE attainment to ACPE and NABP via the CPE Monitor system. The course should be posted within 24-48 hours of evaluation completion. It is the responsibility of the participant to provide their correct date of birth (MMDD format) and NABP e-Profile ID on their member or guest profile on the ASCP Website.
