Target Audience:
This activity has been designed for the senior care pharmacist interested and
involved in treating the septic patient.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this application-based activity, participants should be
able to:
- Identify age-related changes in the older adult which increase the risk of contracting infections and sepsis
- Identify new definitions for diagnosing sepsis
- Describe possible challenges to diagnosing and managing sepsis in older adults
- Discuss potential therapies for treating sepsis in older adults
- Given a patient case, design an appropriate pharmacotherapeutic plan for the geriatric patient.

How to Earn Credit:
BCGP Credit: Per the Board of Pharmacy Specialties
(BPS), all pharmacists seeking BCGP Recertification have ONE attempt to achieve
a 70% or higher on the 10-question post-test.
CPE Credit: You must complete the evaluation by April 1st, 2018 at 11:59 pm ET to receive credit. ASCP reports CPE attainment to ACPE and NABP via the CPE Monitor system. The course should be posted within 24-48 hours of evaluation completion. It is the responsibility of the participant to provide their correct date of birth (MMDD format) and NABP e-Profile ID on their member or guest profile on the ASCP Website.
