Target Audience: This course has been designed for senior care pharmacists interested in working with patients and clinicians to identify neuropathic pain causes and treatment options.
Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this application-based activity, participants should be
able to:
- Describe the epidemiology, pathogenesis, risk factors, and clinical presentation of neuropathic pain.
- Discuss non-pharmacologic and pharmacologic treatment options for neuropathic pain management in older adults.
- Utilize a recently published decisional algorithm to improve overall management of neuropathic pain in older adults.
- Develop an individualized neuropathic pain treatment plan for the geriatric patient, taking into account clinical situation, comorbidities, renal function, other medications, and cognitive status.

BCGP Credit: Per the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS), all
pharmacists seeking BCGP Recertification have ONE attempt to achieve a 70% or
higher on the 10-question post-test.
CPE Credit: You must complete the evaluation by January 15, 2018 at 11:59 pm ET to receive credit.ASCP reports CPE attainment to ACPE and NABP via the CPE Monitor system. The course should be posted within 24-48 hours of evaluation completion. It is the responsibility of the participant to provide their correct date of birth (MMDD format) and NABP e-Profile ID on their member or guest profile on the ASCP Website.
